The Invisible Man
Dr. Nimrod Ham lives in Chicago and works at National Optics Industries as an Optical Physicist. Dr. Ham is black, a childless widower, who lives alone and is dating a much younger Derva Cooper, who is a Neighborhood Community Police Officer.
Optical physics is the study of the fundamental properties of light and its interaction with matter. This includes classical optical phenomena such as reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference, and also studying the quantum mechanical properties of individual packets of lights known as photons.
It is used in many areas of science, such as astronomy, engineering, oceanography, physics, and fiber optics. Popular applications of interferometry in the industry include the measurement of small displacements, refractive index changes, and surface irregularities.
Dr. Ham’s area of responsibility is working on top secret military project known as the Cloak Project which basically measures space as pixels and, by doing so, it collects and emits light in a way to make whatever it is cloaking appear invisible to the human eye. Dr. Ham, after decades of research invents, at his home laboratory, a way to change his body’s refractive index to that of air so that it neither absorbs nor reflects his body. He becomes invisible.
He calls Derva and asks her to come right over. When she does, Nimrod demonstrates his discovery and she faints. When she awakens they discuss the enormity of his discovery and he must protect it from anyone that who would abuse it.
Saturdays are Nimrod’s favorite day. He meets his friends at the local YMCA for three hours highly athletic basketball. But today the local gangbangers show up and threaten and rob them. Some had their tires slashed.
That night Derva and Nimrod are having dinner and he vents about his bad day. From that comes the idea of using his invisibility to help fight crime.
The Invisible Man, crime fighter, the next Superhero.
